2017-2018 Officer Petitions

We are now accepting petitions from chapter members for all executive offices for the 2017-2018 school year. You may select one office for which you would like to run for election. Please read the descriptions of each office below and see Ms. Yap if you have any questions regarding the responsibilities of executive board members.

Use the form below to submit your petitions for executive office Ms. Yap by Sunday, May 7 in order to be considered for the election ballot. Late submissions will not be accepted.

PRESIDENT
(must have been a member of NHS for at least one year)

If elected, you agree to faithfully perform the following duties:
  • preside over chapter meetings (twice per month)
  • preside over executive board meetings (at least twice per month, as needed)
  • confer with NHS advisor before each meeting to set agenda
  • coordinate chapter-sponsored events
  • coordinate and speak at the spring induction ceremony
VICE PRESIDENT

If elected, you agree to faithfully perform the following duties:
  • assume the duties of president when he/she is unavailable
  • coordinate chapter-sponsored service projects (at least one per quarter)
  • update and maintain the NHS service hours database
SECRETARY

​If elected, you agree to faithfully perform the following duties:
  • take attendance at NHS meetings and events
  • record accurate minutes at NHS meetings​
  • keep student files accurate, organized, and up-to-date
TREASURER

If elected, you agree to faithfully perform the following duties:
  • keep accurate and up-to-date records of NHS finances
  • submit a bi-weekly financial report to chapter members
  • coordinate chapter fundraising activities, including counting receipts and making deposits
HISTORIAN

If elected, you agree to faithfully perform the following duties:
  • arrange for photos to be taken at chapter events
  • keep a year-long record of the chapter's activities (scrapbook, website, blog, video, etc.)
  • assist in coordinating chapter-sponsored service projects

ALL OFFICERS must be able to attend two chapter meetings per month and at least two executive board meetings per month. This adds up to a time commitment of at least 1 hour per week, plus individual officer duties. All officers are also responsible for the planning and coordination of the spring induction ceremony.
